With the last game you needed to run a few tweaks before the game can run optimally on a modern system and that is also true with this game. Again it’s not a big deal to install and takes less than 10 minutes. I had an issue where my game would constantly be running at over 800 fps but I managed to fix it by editing a single value in the config file for the widescreen patch.

Absolutely magnificent sequel to the incredibly iconic original. Max Payne 2 improves in almost every single way to the first game with refined combat, more varied level design and an even stronger narrative presentation.Almost 20 years on and the game holds up fantastically well from a visual standpoint with some stunning attention to detail along with the trademark combat effects. I remember once upon a time playing this and not understanding the story cause it wasn’t spoon fed to me. Now as an adult I see this for the masterpiece that it is. This does a nice job of picking up from the previous and having the same dingy mood that set it apart from other shooters in this genre. It does not suffer from the weird difficulty setting from its predecessor, nor does it have absurd bullet sponge bosses for basically no reason. You can more or less pick a gun and use it through the entire playthrough without being pigeon holed into having to only use the M4 once it becomes available. It solves all the problems of it’s predecessor so I can genuinely recommend this game since it wont be frustrating for others to play.

Very artfully told sad story with noir style metaphors. It basically is more or less on par with its previous installment which is the only reason to play the first game. Gameplay- A general overhaul of the things that made it bad. The gunplay is a lot better and responsive. A shotgun no longer makes 2 big holes but instead actually leaves pellet bullet holes in the wall. Sfx – They took what was good from the previous and stuck with it, the supporting actors weren’t absurdly comical sounding as if it was low budget.

I’m playing Max Payne 1 and 2 for the first time with all the mods and fixes and I have to say it’s crazy to me how these 18- 21-year-old games are so immersive in gameplay, story, atmosphere, graphics and art style direction with an A+ soundtrack.It literally pulls you into this dark and gritty world full of pain and sorrow, but it still has its charm and even comedic aspects. I’m really falling in love with the Max Payne series, and I hope more people will give this masterpiece of a series a chance!
